Isabel Klein is a PhD candidate in Sociology and research assistant. She earned a BA and MA degree in Social Sciences from Humboldt-University in Berlin. In 2012-2013 she was took part in the MA Sociology Programme at New School for Social Research, New York, (DAAD grant). Since fall 2015 she is based in Munich at the department of Sociology.
Her PhD project focuses on gender and labour relations in the field of beauty work where she conducted ethnographic research. More generally, she is specialized in the following fields and topics: sociology of labour (service work, self employment, gender and labour relations, unions), gender studies, ethnography and qualitative methods. Over the past three years she has taught various classes (BA and MA level) dealing with questions of gender inequality, labour relations, sociology of the body, sociology of emotion, affect studies, qualitative research methods. She has also supervised numerous BA theses.
